Keith Adwar, chief financial officer of Adwar Casting, was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2009. After receiving the news, he began exercising more frequently and developed a passion for biking, participating in the Tour de Cure for the first time in 2011 with friends and family under “Team Adwar.”

 

This year, Team Adwar’s contribution broke the record for the highest family/friend team donation on Long Island.

 

“Since being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes three years ago, I felt the need to do something to help find a cure and educate others,” Adwar said. “I started Team Adwar and joined the ADA Tour de Cure because I felt cycling had inspired me to get healthier and help control my diabetes.”
